Veneto is Italy writ small, spanning the Alps, the Mediterranean and everything in-between, with each sub-region specialising in local varieties and wine styles. Generally, the region has suffered from an excess of tourism (driving demand for ‘easy wines’) and enthusiasm for technology (giving winemakers the tools to manufacture such wines), which only makes it easier to identify the most dedicated growers. Nowhere is this truer than with the Spagnol family, where Marco’s energy has resulted in wonderfully precise Proseccos and the revival of ancient styles.
